Welcome to September!

Hello Fellow Parents!

Welcome to September! This year has just flown by! My daughter started school last week and I can tell you Junior High is a big deal! I still love the looks that I get when I go into her school. Most parents are in the 40's or at least late 30's. It is kinda humorous to me being 29 and watching the parents talk. How awesome is going to be when I sign up the Parent Teacher Booster Club next week.  HEHEHEHE.

What are the challenges you have faced so far with getting your kids into school? Or if they are not in school yet, what are the challenges you are facing this month?

Welcome to our site.

I am looking forward to meeting new parents on this site! So lets get chatting about our experiences!

Weekly Tip for August 30th- Talking to your teen about drugs

There are two issues in our home that we do not yell at our daughter about. The first one is sex, the second one is drugs. Our reason for this is that how will she ever be able to open up to us about these issues if she thinks that she is going to get into trouble or made to feel stupid about the issues.

Tip #1- Let your child or teen know that you as a parent are very aware that the drugs are out there and that there class mates / peers , even friends have either tried drugs or have been offered the drugs.

Tip #2- Explain to your child that you are there with an open door about  drugs. That saying NO! is very important but at the same time you are there for your child for any questions.

Tip #3- Sit down with your child and spend sometime on the Internet showing them what the drug looks like and the before and after effects of the drug. This has a huge impact on kids. Most kids try it out of curiosity , if they know what the drug does it can help them make an informed choice.

This tip came our household. I would love to hear if it has helped or how your ideas worked?

Weekly Tips

Every week I will be posting a new parenting tip and where it came from. We will have a discussion on how the tip has helped or not helped. Also we will be having a book recommendation every other month. I look forward to having our discussions!

How does your story start?

Everyone has a story. A beginning of how it all started. How the day in your life changed everything. I want to know your story. When did you find out that you were going to be a teen mom? What were the circumstances in your life at that time? Did you choose to keep the baby? How did the father feel about it? Let us know how it all happened.
